  • 500 g kale
  • 1000 g potatoes
  • 250 g lardons
  • 1 smoked sausage (rookworst)
  • 30 g butter
  • 100 ml milk
  • 30 ml onion powder
  • 75 ml white vinegar
  • 5 ml nutmeg
  • salt
  • pepper
  • gravy
  • whole grain mustard

    Peel the potatoes, rinse them, and cut into 4-6 smaller pieces depending on the size. Bake the lardons in a pan until crispy.

    Put the kale in salted boiling water and boil for about 10 minutes.

    Add the potatoes on top of the kale and boil for another 15-20 minutes. Use a fork to check if the potatoes are cooked; they should fall apart easily.

    Drain the pan, but save some of the cooking water for later.

    Mash the kale and potatoes together. Add the lardons, butter, vinegar, and warm milk. For a smoother consistency, add some of the reserved cooking water.

    When the desired consistency is reached, add the onion powder, nutmeg, salt, and pepper.

    Serve the stamppot with gravy, smoked sausage, and whole grain mustard.
